July 21: A "Hottie" Bag

Taught by Azalia Butler

This is a cherry pit bag that you either heat in the microwave for hot or put in the freezer for cold pack.

The following is what you need to bring to class:

  • 1 piece of fabric 13" X 15" (for the cherry pit bag)
  • 2 pieces of fabric 10" X 12" (for carrying bag)
  • 2 pieces of fabric 3" X 12-14" (handles for carrying bag)

I will provide the cherry pits needed at a small cost of $3.00.

I will bring the serging machine for quick sewing. It takes 5 minutes to make the hottie bag and 15 minutes to make the matching carrying bag.

August 18: Jelly Roll Race

Taught by Charlene Marshall

No pattern required!

Fabric: Your favorite 2 ˝” strip set – such as a Jelly roll or Bali Pop - or cut some from stash (must be at least 40 strips).
Basic Sewing Supplies - Machine, rulers, mat, rotary cutter, thread & several pre-wound bobbins, scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc.

**Please bring your sewing machine in good working order with pre-wound bobbins.**

The “starting lap” of a jelly roll race is usually the day of the race. Since we have a limited time at the center, each Quilt Racer will sew their strips end-to-end (short end -- at an angle like you sew a binding for your quilt or you can sew the ends straight) before coming to the meeting. You should end up with a very long strip.

September 15: Mug Bucket Organizer

Taught by Charlene Dean

The Mug Bucket Organizer fits over a regular size coffee mug and makes a stable holder for pens, pencils, markers, scissors or small rotary cutters.  There are eight pockets on the outside and six pockets on the inside.

Supplies:

  • 12 inch square of fabric;
  • 12 inch square of coordinating fabric;
  • 54-1/2 inches double fold bias binding
  • 1/4 yard coordinating fabric will be required to make bias binding or you may purchase prepackaged bias binding.
