Uhuru participates in a network that supports creativity in textile & quilting arts in the Washington, DC area. Below is a listing of upcoming guild activities, local classes, shows, lectures and workshops to provide inspiration, education, and motivation for quilters.

- WeeBee Quilting will host a wall quilt display at G Street Fabrics in Rockville, Maryland, 5520 Randolph Road (corner of Randolph Road and Nebel Street).

- Sully Historic Site’s 37th Annual Quilt Show & Sale in Chantilly, VA, 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Featuring antique and new American-made quilts, fabrics, antique linens, baskets, stained glass and jewelry.
Tour the 1794 home of Richard Bland Lee, northern Virginia’s first congressman, and see early examples of quilts in the period rooms.
Throughout the day, see demonstrations and talks on quilting techniques as well as demonstrations by living history interpreters. Appraisers will be available to evaluate your family heirloom quilts for $10 per quilt with a limit of two quilts.
Admission: $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children. For more information, contact Sully at 703-437-1794.
Directions: From the Beltway (495) take either I66 west to Route 28 North or the Dulles Toll Road to exit 9A (Route 28 South).

- Daughters of Dorcas & Sons presents a bus trip to Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XVII. The bus departs at 7:30 am. from and returns at 7:00 pm. to Calvary Episcopal Church, 6th & I Street, NE, Washington, DC. Cost is $40.

The American Quilt Study Group (AQSG) is turning 30! Join the celebration by participating in a nationwide block challenge called “30's for 30”. - Exhibit premiering at Houston International Quilt Market & Festival - Still We Rise Again: Quilts for New Orleans.
This juried exhibit feature quilts that celebrate the unwavering spirit of New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, themes of rebirth, renewal and the recovery of a city devastated five years ago by Hurricane Katrina.
